Indefinite Leave to Remain

An Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) is also known as a UK Settlement Visa which allows its holder to be remain in the UK indefinitely and to take up employment or studies without restrictions. One can also travel abroad at any time upon being granted this visa. There are multiple categories of people who qualify to apply for an ILR depending on their visa type and their period of stay in the UK.

British Citizenship

You can become a British citizen either by birth or by applying for Naturalisation. To apply for Naturalisation, you have to be aged 18 or over. To be a British citizen, you will have to show that you have obtained Indefinite Leave to Remain or EU Settled Status for a minimum of 3 years. You will also need to show that you have not breached any immigration rules or UK law.

Once you are a British citizen, you will be able to live, work and study in the UK permanently without any immigration restrictions. You will also be able to travel abroad without worry of losing your status.
